Connecting With Your Inner Being
Intentional inertia is making a decision to not move:
to not move physically;
to not move emotionally;
to not move in your thoughts;
and to be still in your inner being and in your spirit. And it is in this space, that you get connected with your ability to create, experience flow states, discover your heart's desires and build the life of your dreams. Who doesn’t want that?
Let’s practice.
Get yourself cozy with a blanket, perhaps a candle or incense. Make sure that there are no fur babies or human babies around that will distract you and/or pounce on you.
Then, slow your breath.
Breathe all the way in all the way to your belly button. This is diaphragmatic breath.
Exhale through your mouth, with an equally slow breath, through pursed lips, making an audible intelligible sound on your exhale
The third step of slowing down is to check in with your here and now. Not yesterday.
Not tomorrow, right now. Here is a suggestion: visualizing a body scan. You can listen to this meditation as well.
Starting at your toes,visualize your toes in your mind and experience the space between your toes.
And moving your imagination to the balls of your feet and the arches and the heels and believe you see a light moving over them or crystal wand or sage stick.
Then to the heels of your feet to the ankles and the top and the bottom, the shin and the calf.
And shift your attention to the front of the knee and the back of the knee all at once.
And the hamstrings and of the quadriceps the front of the thighs and the back of the thighs and the inner thighs and the outer pies all at once.
And your pelvic area and your reproductive organs all at once, housing your root and sacral chakras. All the organs, energy the flesh all at once.
And your solar plexus and your intestines and your stomach and your ribs and your liver and your kidneys and your spine and your ribs and your spleen and all of the organs and all of the bones all of the chakras all at once.
Moving up to your chest and your sternum and your shoulders and your clavicle and your throat and your neck and your shoulders. And your heart space.
Imagine and sense your forearms, elbows, wrists, hands, fingers and space between the fingers all at once as you imagine the life force flowing through.
Allow yourself to move this light from your neck to your chin from your chin to your lips, teeth, tongue, nose and the membranes to your sinuses into your eyes.
Believe this scan as it flows over your eyelids, eyelashes, eyebrows to your forehead. To the top of your head to your hair down to the follicles.
Body scan for tension and release. Body scan for peace and joy and ease and expand and be open to the life force that flows in and through your body.
In this space of intentional inertia you are sitting fully and squarely present with all aspects of yourself: human and divine. Many people call this a connection to your higher self; I Am Presence, Holy Spirit or higher power. There is no wrong name for that which you call divine. Know that you are connected to your divinity at all times. But when practicing intentional inertia you become that much more acutely aware and tuned into your inner being.
When in this place, listen with your heart.
Listen with your body and to your body cues.
Listen with your eyes and yes, listen with your ears.
But the most important thing you can do in any given moment is to just be present
in the moment, just be present. Forget about what happened 10 minutes ago, or 10 hours ago or 10 days ago or 10 months or years or 10 relationships ago, be present right now for this moment, for this relationship, for this year, this month, this day, this hour or this minute.
Here is where you allow yourself to be open to the good feelings. And when there are things that are happening in your world that are not making you feel good.
Then set an intention to take your personal power back so that you can change those things. Change how you relate to those things. Change how you respond to those things.
You have the personal power, through imagination, belief and directing your decision making and your emotional state toward peace, ease, joy and contentment. May you tap into that power today and always utilize it for your greatest good.
