Readings and Guided Meditations

READINGS:

As a trained evidential spirit medium, it is my delight to provide evidence to you that even after death of the body, your loved one continues on in another realm of consciousness. I will provide you with facts around their relationship to you, what their personality is like, perhaps a memory, quote, song or something unique and nuanced about your relationship that will leave you convinced that your loved one is still with you, knows what is happening in your life and is sending you their love and wisdom. It is my hope you will be open to receive that and have a life improving message from them as well. Readings can help with your grief process, give your direction in growing your own ability to build relationships with loved ones in spirit or guide you in decisions you are making in your here and now.

Channeled Guided Meditations

I work with a collection of spirit beings that I refer to as “The Wise Counsel”. I first noticed their presence in my work during guided meditations that I was leading. I would later discover their wisdom was available to me on a regular basis and record sessions with them for information gathering and personal support. Meditation is an important tool in healing. Channeling guided meditations allows each meditation to be unique and tailored to the individual receiving the energy and message.

So much of life goes by without us paying attention to our thoughts and feelings. We jump from one activity to the next and react to what’s happening almost thoughtlessly, rarely stopping to consider the rich inner worlds inside of us. Mindfulness meditation is all about slowing down and getting in touch with this inner world. While there may be a lot happening outside of you, there is also a lot going on within you, too. Meditation gives you a chance to explore that.

Neuroscience has proven that meditation can help you improve concentration, control your emotions, and decrease your anxiety. It can help you enhance your awareness and reduce the intensity of your stress reactions, allowing you to live more thoughtfully and decisively. In my own life, meditation has helped me cope with Crohn’s Disease and experience relief from many of my symptoms. Cultivating a regular meditation practice can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illness, and many other issues.

With the help of the Wise Counsel, Leigh-Ann brings you the benefits of meditation with a mind-body-soul experience that is sure to improve your sense of wellbeing and connection to self and source.

How Can Meditation Help With Grief and Trauma?

In my coaching and counseling practice today, mindfulness meditation is especially helpful for people struggling with trauma. When you’ve been traumatized, the prefrontal cortex—the part of your brain responsible for confidence, creativity and rational thought—is significantly weakened. And the amygdala—the part of the brain responsible for stress and reactivity—becomes too powerful for its own good. As a result, your nervous system is unable to achieve a healthy balance between both parts.

Practicing mindfulness can help you restore this balance by decreasing the avoidance mentality that trauma breeds. Being traumatized makes you want to flee. It makes you want to escape your body, your situation, and your environment. This is why dissociation is one of the most common traumatic responses—your body wants to disconnect from your emotional pain, causing you to feel numb and detached from your life. Meditating can help you stay grounded in your body and connected with your surroundings. It puts you back in the driver’s seat of your life.

What’s more, meditation allows you to reconstruct the sense of time that trauma weakened. The prefrontal cortex is the timekeeper of the brain, helping you divide time clearly into past, present, and future. When you’re traumatized, however, all of your brain activity leaves the prefrontal cortex and goes to the amygdala. This distorts your sense of time and makes you feel like the past is happening in the present, as if your trauma is repeating itself. Meditation opens up pathways of the brain that were blocked and helps you re-organize events in your life chronologically. This way, the past doesn’t feel as present anymore.

Mere talk therapy usually isn’t powerful enough to alleviate the pain of trauma. Mindfulness meditation goes deeper, accessing the amygdala, the part of the brain that trauma impacted the most. That’s why it’s such an integral part of my approach to coaching and increasing your wellbeing, connection to source and self. By quieting down the brain chemistry that is reactive, we are able to get quiet and close and be present for that still small inner voice of Wise Counsel.

What Do Mindfulness Sessions Look Like?

The process for working with me is very loose, intuitively-guided, and customizable depending on your goals. Each session begins with a grounding technique and an opportunity to dip into theta state, a place where brain waves allow you to experience self as being deeply relaxed. You feel connected to your inner being. This is the place where you and I meet and work together at a deep, connected, authentic, relaxed and decisive time and place where you are able to access and gain clarity and inner wisdom constructs your plans for change in your life.

In our mindfulness sessions, you and I will explore several modalities of meditation including: body scans, guided meditation, silent meditation, mindful movement and channeled meditation for personalized energetic healing. During a body scan, the body is used as your focal point. This is helpful as it gives your mind “something to do” while you are you are bringing your brain into a deeper place of peace.

Guided meditation, is a little more structured and movement-oriented. You may practice different poses for relaxing the body and use movement to release any tension that’s inside of you. Sometimes we may use mindful breathing as well. Focusing on your breath can help you clear your mind of daily stressors and get more in touch with your feelings and body sensations. You will be given visual suggestions, a story line to follow and be prompted to answer questions for yourself when you are in a hypnotic state.

Silent meditation is exactly what it sounds like—meditating in silence so that you can be receptive to whatever comes your way. Instead of reacting to what’s going on around you, you will learn to simply be present with your surroundings and your feelings. This can help you be more accepting of yourself and, if you practice enough, can even increase your sense of self-love, connection to universal love and access that in your daily life and relationships.

There are times when it will be appropriate for both you and I to “get out of the way” and create space for energetic healing to happen in the midst of your meditation. If this happens, I will be prompted by the angelic realm, with whom I work with, to speak into the space words that are healing and helpful to your process. This experience is likened to hypnotic suggestion, but rather than collaborating on a script for hypnosis, we trust the process and allow the energy of the healing realms to send healing through intuited words given to me. You may notice a change in the timber of my voices, a deeper feeling of peace, perhaps you will see lights or feel tingling or sensations of warmth or coolness in your body. There is no one way to experience a channeled meditation.

After all meditation experiences, we will have ample time to process and create “take aways” for you to work on for the time period between sessions. I always encourage my clients to journal and we will discuss the many options to keeping a journal that works best for you. Your journal will be your road map, your record keeper and a cathartic space to put energy into your healing.

Meditation Can Help You Get Back Into The Flow Of Life And Reawaken Your Creativity

Our superpower as humans is our thinking. We have very busy, creative brains that are capable of writing great novels and unlocking the mysteries of the universe. Unfortunately, our superpower has a dark side. We tend to ruminate about the past, which causes us to suffer from depression. We also tend to think too much about the future, which can lead to anxiety. We can be overly self-conscious and overthink things until we are too stressed to enjoy life.

Meditation helps us ground ourselves in the moment. It’s a tool for getting back into the flow of life and reawakening our sense of creativity and insight. Participating in my meditation program can give you the tools, techniques, and support to build a practice that will help you create the life of your dreams. You can learn to integrate mindful living into every aspect of your life—your health, your hobbies, and your relationships.
